How much does forestry mulching cost per acre in North Carolina?
For most Sandhills properties we see $1,800 to $3,500 per acre. Light brush and saplings on flat, open ground sit at the low end. Heavy growth with mature stems, vines, steep ground, or tight access sits at the high end. We price by the day or the hour, so you only pay for the time the machine actually runs.
Is mulching cheaper than traditional land clearing?
Almost always. Traditional clearing means a dozer, a burn permit or hauling, stump removal, and hauling debris off site. Mulching does it in one pass and leaves the material on the ground as erosion control, so there are no dump fees, no burn piles, and no follow-up cleanup bill.
What is the minimum job size?
Two days. Getting the machine loaded, hauled, and set up costs the same whether the job is one acre or five, so our smallest jobs are booked as two-day jobs. One acre of heavy growth or three acres of light brush both typically fill those two days.
What makes the price go up?
Stem size over about six inches, heavy vine and briar, wet or steep ground, tight gates or long walks to the work area, buried debris or old fencing, and any keep-trees we have to work carefully around.
